I have been asked to run a couple of music sessions with Zdeve 'Fingers' Warne with a Northumbrian theme on 9th and 10th September as part of the Festival on the Moor. The venue is in Kirbymoorside North Yorkshire.

Be aware that 9th September clashes with the Steve Forbert gig at The Bandroom, Low Mill, Kirkbymoorside, though that will only draw away a maximum of 90 potential punters....

Bruce Molsky is from Virginia and plays guitar, banjo, fiddle and by all accounts he's no mean singer either. He played a brief tour over here last year which had it's penultimate date in Nottingham and although I didn't make it, the amount of people singing his praises was most encouraging. He's back on Saturday 3rd Sept at The Robin Hood Folk Club,Nags Head and Plough, Stapleford and hopefuly I'll see him then.

The whole festival is worth supporting. There are some cracking events lined up.

    You are in luck!! I have been asked to play at Haworth Arts Festival on sundy 10th, so I am unlikely to make it. Mind you, I will do a routemaster thingy to see if we are near Kibymoorside or not.
          Even strawberries get it!

Last plug for these 2 sessions Friday 9th and Saturday 10th
Kings Head Kirbymoorside. Currently, about 8 musicians have indicated they will be there. There is a beer festival on at the same time.
Start about 8.30 ish.

What standard of musician? As long as you are moderately competent and know a few tunes can you just turn up and play?

I do have a large "bassy thing" which I can bring along and oompah with the best of them :-) BTW it's not a euphonium or anything brassy.
