We bought a great sounding violin. Would like to replace strings with same type. Seller has no idea. The ball ends have light aqua colored silk with royal blue spiral. The peg ends are red, teal, aqua, and black. Any ideas?

Stu, that's the type of information I need, but none of the diagrams match my strings, so more info of that type is required. Thanks. Any other sources?
Al

Try an email to Kevin George here - there are some manufacturers who don't publish charts eg Thomastik. Don't forget many players mix and match

Why is it so vital ? why not just get a good quality new set , if the instrument is worth it ?

Eric, in response to your question, a good violin responds very differently to different types of strings. The ones that sound great on my old violin sound terrible on the new one. On a poor quality instrument, all strings sound almost the same.

I checked out the Quinn Violins string searcher, and it did not have the color combinations on my strings. I've sent an email to Kevin George. I do have pictures of the string ends I can email if anyone here cares to see them. Thanks for all the help, and I would appreciate any other ideas.

Al
