Can anyone please tell me whether the Lancaster Maritime Festival is being held again in 2006 and, if so, on what dates?

I cannot find anything on the internet answering this query so I hope somebody on this messageboard can help shed some light on what is happening. Thank you.

I keep asking the Organiser what is happening but he has been ordered by Lancaster council to keep a low profile.
As far as I can gather there would be sufficient funding for two days of the festival without depending on any Council funding.
Seeing as I am always involved with John O' Gaunt Morris on Good Friday, I would hope that if the festival is truncated it will be on the Sunday and Monday end of Easter.
The Council were backing the Punk festival in Morecambe as they saw this as their way forward, however, this has now transfered to Blackpool, partly due to violence at this years event.
Also the Maritime festival won an award for being one of the best in the North-West, imediately after the news came of its cancelation.
Someone, somewhere in authority, is in danger of losing face over this so all I can say is that negotiations will be delicate!

Robin Madge,
in Lancaster

I've also been waiting for news as to what is happening in 2006.

I fear that no news is bad news.

Thanks to Robin for at least shedding a little light on the situation but I'm disappointed nobody else has contributed anything of note.

Surely someone, somewhere must know what's happening?

The answer to your question GUEST Guest is to learn a little about politics and you will have your answer.

As things stand at the moment, I'm afraid, Guest, that nobody knows the answer to your question. You can be sure that if anything pertinent is made public, Mudcat will be one of the first places to learn about it!
