And no, kind folks - this ain't no hoax!

Seen a sasquatch, ogled an abominable snowman or looked at the Loch Ness monster? If so, you could be in line for a $1-million reward. Loren Coleman, a professor at the University of Southern Maine, says anyone with a photo that leads to the live capture of one of the legendary creatures will get the money.

If only ... if only .... if only ....

I saw one in 1967 on the streets of New York just after eating some brownies in Brooklyn. It's a long story, but he said he came from "the woods". I didn't take a picture. Well, I DID take a picture, but he ate the camera. His name was Gorkelgrup. That was his first name. I can't recall his last name. Something like Smith or Jones.

Ooooo --- the part about "leading to the capture of" just sunk in. :-(

Could you do that to ole Gorkelgrup, Peace? I don't think I could. Not for a million bucks. Or even 2 million.

But 3 Million? Hmmm ... you make life so difficult sometimes, gnu...

Great link, open mike - thanks!

And dlick here for intriguing NA native folklore/legends about Bigfoot; apparently known across the continent for thousands of years as

...a sort of supernatural or spirit being, whose appearance to humans is always meant to convey some kind of message....

Ray Owen, son of a Dakota spiritual leader from Prairie Island Reservation in Minnesota, told a reporter from the Red Wing Republican Eagle:

"They exist in another dimension from us, but can appear in this dimension whenever they have a reason to. See, it's like there are many levels, many dimensions. When ur time in this one is finished, we move on to the next, but the Big Man can go between. The Big Man comes from God. He's our big brother, kind of looks out for us. Two years ago, we were going downhill, really self-destructive. We needed a sign to put us back on track, and that's why the Big Man appeared".

Hm. So what was going on with Mudcat, way back when the N.B. Sasquatch first appeared?

The only people who have ever seen "Nessie" the Loch Ness monster have been under the affluence of incahol......Scotch Whisky....does that explain the sightings I wonder?
Best wishes, Mike.

There's gonna be a Sasquatch conference right here in Pocatello next Spring -- in June, I think it is. The biology dept. at the University is putting it on.

Pocatello? Idaho? Yep! There used to be Sasquatch there. Don't know if they are still there or not.

My uncle was a logger in Washinton, Oregon and Idaho about 60 or 70 years ago. Never drank or gambled. He was a rock hound that searched the river beds for agates (thunder eggs) and other rocks. He saw and smelled Sasquatch. Figured there was a colony on Mt. St. Helens.

Said he saw one in Idaho, too.

OK, I just hafta tell you this .... it's so EXCITING! I just realized that professors' million dollar bounty is on Kempenfelt Kelly's head too!   :-O

As a native of Barrie Ontario, on the scenic shores of Kempenfelt Bay/Lake Simcoe just north of Toronto, I've heard the stories about 'Kempenfelt Kelly' - Barrie's equivalent of the Loch Ness Monster - all my life. Like everyone else I know I put it down to a joke, a local tourism / business gimmick. But apparently "Igopogo", better known as Kempenfelt Kelly, is no joke at all for "crytozoologists" across the continent!

Canada is an unusual country in that it contains more lakes containing unidentified swimming animals than any other country in the world. Lake Simcoe is one of those lakes. Its unusual inhabitant has been given the nickname Igopogo - an obvious parody of the name bestowed upon the aquatic marvel of Okanagan Lake, British Columbia. As Igopogo has been frequently sighted in Kempenfelt Bay on the northw estern side of this roughly circular lake, it is also known as Kempenfelt Kelly.

Those who have had the good fortune of obtaining a sighting of the reticent and elusive beast have described it as having a stove-pipe neck with a head resembling that of a dog and with a face to match. The largest specimen sighted was a mere 12 feet long - a small enough creature when compared with the lurking hulks said to dwell at Loch Ness and Okanagan Lake.

This midget-sized monster is also a much slower swimmer than the other more illustrious denizens of cryptid-infested lakes. Igopogo only appears to amble along at a leisurely pace when spotted by surprised humans. the animal has a penchant for gliding up to startled picnickers on shore and has manifested itself to unwary boaters who are frequently overwhelmed by the creature's sudden manifestation.

Egads ... i just can't contain myself .... think I'll brave the wind and rain, pack up some provisions and get me down the lakeshore right now, camera poised for action in my hot (not!) little hands ... ANd hey, seeing as it's Little Hawk's birthday today, maybe I'll even split my bounty with him! As long as he promises never to talk about how awful smoking is again, that is ... O LUCKY DAY .....
