It took place about a 30 minute drive from me in Allhambra, CA:


Golden Retriever Gives Birth to Green Puppy

A dog breeder in Alhambra, Calif., is mystified after his golden retriever gave birth to a green puppy, according to a Local 6 News report.

The green puppy, named Wasabi, was one of four puppies born five days ago.

The dog is healthy and green, according to the report.

Local 6 News showed video of the puppy rolling around with its normal-looking newborn brothers and sisters.

Skeptics said the dog had to be dyed green but the owner said the puppy was born green.

Veterinarians said it is possible for a newborn puppy's fur to be green because the placenta, which is green, rubs off at birth.

With jewellery we can purchase yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, blue gold and green gold...so why not a green gold dog? Fun I say!

in the chatroom we discussed the possibility that the green dog heralds a new stage of Canine evolution and that soon, many more Green Dogs will be born. They will hook up with Indigo Children and eventually rule the world.

If you don't have your camera's flash set to merge with the room light (incandescent, fluorescent, daylight) things can turn all sorts of colors. Get that pup to PhotoShop and he'll be okay.

It's not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold...

not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.

or tall like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why?
Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be.

Back in the 13th Century (I'm sure you all remember this), a green boy and girl appeared in England near the burgeoning metropolis of Woolpit, near Bury St. Edmonds in Suffolk. William of Newburgh and Abbot Ralph of Coggeshall (in Essex) both wrote about them. The boy pined away and died, but the girl lost her green color and eventually married a guy from King Lynn in Norfolk.

Aintcha glad there's a librarian who can tell you these things?

All kidding aside - his green color is going to fade. It had something to do with his position in the womb next to the placenta.

However...

In that film The Boy With the Green Hair, the reason given for the child having green hair had something to do with the plight of war orphans. Perhaps the Puppy is trying to make a similar statement about all the unwanted Puppies who wind up getting put down.
