Subject: RE: Lyrics req. Any NFLD MUSIC From: Jerry Friedman, jfriedman@nnm.cc.nm.us Date: 28 Feb 97 - 03:13 PM You've probably already searched for "Newfoundland" in the DT and found such songs as "Let me Fish off Cape St. Mary's" and "Squid-Jiggin' Ground". Here's the first verse and chorus of "Sea People" to start things off. I won't attempt to reproduce the accent with spellings such as "dey".
They go down with their boats to the shore,
They are sea people, the pride of the land, I'm not sure at ALL about that last line. I'd particularly like to see lyrics for "Wry Man", another recently composed Nfld. song recorded by the Folk of the Sea.

Subject: RE: Lyrics req. Any NFLD MUSIC From: ron k Date: 03 Mar 97 - 06:50 PM Sea People is actually a Cape Breton son written by Allistar MacGillvary. Look for the Thread about "Tie Me Down". If you want the lyrics, I'd be happy to send them. |
