Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Ain't Got You (Clarence Carter) From: Jim Dixon Date: 01 Jan 07 - 08:53 PM I AIN'T GOT YOU was indeed written by Clarence Carter. Besides Carter, it has also been recorded by Aerosmith, The Animals, Billy Boy Arnold, The Blues Brothers, Eric Clapton, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Jimmy Reed, The Yardbirds, and several lesser-known performers. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Ain't Got You (Clarence Carter) From: GUEST Date: 05 Jul 20 - 11:56 AM As a kid and with commercial radio we was hearing it from the Yardbirds, but Billy Boy Arnold it is said recorded the original. I still listen to Billy's version all the time and prefer it over the Jimmy Reed version. As for any "several lesser-know performers" I was always impressed with the 9 minute version by Blue Oyster Cult, it is outstanding, transformed to Rock n Roll, uptempo and of course Blazing Guitars. My opinion is and I have heard them all. "On Your Feet Or On Your Knees" the Best Rock LIVE album out there. Give it a try, from 1975. Billy Boy was also signed to VeeJay records, I think he had the first crack at recording it. |
