The old "Auld Lang Syne" tune was published in 1700. For the newer one there is some disagrement about what are and aren't variants of the same tune, at any rate it seems to be of the 1770's or 80's. For these see Auld Lang Syne 1 and 2 in the Scots Tune Index at www.erols.com/olsonw
