- A Home Secretary who admittedly is afraid to walk on the pavements near her home at night. - A senior Police Officer who moved house rather confront a group of teenagers who used to hang around sitting on the wall of his house. - Drunken fifteen year olds kicking people to death in the street All the direct result of the changes Thatcher deliberately brought about. 1950s? Strong trade unions, high self- esteem, strong social self- discipline. 2000's? Impotent unions, no worker protection, fragmented society, self- valuation in terms of admen's images, selfishness, violence and ignorant daily Mail rants.
