It takes both a man and a woman to make a cook. As for being a cook, that's down to love of food, rather than love of what the food symbolises. The worst cooks are those who are cooking to save the planet, or to boost their status, or to be in with the latest fashion, or to "use up" faded vegetables or leftovers(*). Note it's not compulsory to love food, just don't ask me to your dinner party.

As for men not cleaning, childminding, shopping, cooking, what planet does the author of Ebbie's quote inhabit? The planet 1961 perhaps? Drinking wine, well, who doesn't?

(*) But if they only have second- grade food available, good cooks can still make the results sing.
