Pitts of Seven Dials printed it; there's a copy in the Madden Collection, but not at the Bodleian. I wouldn't quite call it a folk song, as it seems never to have been found in tradition. Roy Palmer got the words from the Madden broadside copy and set them to a tune that the Hammond brothers noted from a Mrs Webb at King's Norton, Worcestershire, in 1906. She used it for a different song, 'Such a Beauty I Did Grow'. |
