I like Ebbie's metaphor of reweaving damaged threads. You can see throughout the speech the threads of everyone's narrative, everyone's agenda, but with an attempt at reweaving them. Perhaps the most important aspect of the speech is the acknowledgment that everyone in the region has a story to which they cling, and which gives them meaning, and that these stories intersect for worse and better. Even just acknowledging in the open that everyone's story has partial validity, and is also partially wrong, is a pretty big deal. yours, Peter T.
