The press release re the BBC Folk Awards dropped into my inbox a few hours ago. The main categories not yet announced - the ceremony is on Feb 1 - but there are lifetime achievement awards for Nanci Griffith and Dick Gaughan. Wouldn't quarrel with either. If you want more details about the nominations, they're here: http://www.salutlive.com/2010/01/bbc-folk-awards-recognition-for-nanci-griffith Also announced ahead of the main event, there are special "good tradition" honours for Mike Alexander and Douglas Eadie, producers of BBC TV's Transatlantic Sessions. This is one, I regret to say, that I missed because of absences from the UK in recent years. I can find out, but does anyone know know off top of head if DVDs are available?
