If memory serves, 10 Nights was made into a play, and Work's song was introduced into it. 'Daddy', an habitual drunkard, later throws a bottle at somebody; it misses, but strikes the girl who sang the song, killing her. If I can lay my hands on my Parlour Songbook, I'll give you a bit more info. Barrie Roberts & I used to sing it to great effect (although I don't think anybody ever signed the Pledge because of it).
