G'day SINS,

I'm not sure where you are viewing all this from ... but the great risk area is the mountain range of the Blue Mountains ... rising up some 60 kilometres / ~ 37 miles inland from coastal Sydney. It's entirely a new climate up there ... usually cool and comfortable, which is why so many of the coastal masses have moved up to what where green, cool, heights.

Unfortunately, as houses crowd the mountains into near 'suburban' spacings ... still nostalgically surrounded by gum trees ... and perfumed by their rather inflammable eucalyptus oil, the dice get loaded against what was the odd hot year. Now the worldwide overuse of every modern device, gadget and facility has pushed us past the old safety limits and this is a foretaste of what the whole wide world is brewing up for itself!

The only reason we don't get such broad fires down here (inner-suburban Sydney) is that bricks and concrete crowd out the greenery of the past ... but the rising temperature isn't going to ease off ... and we are all going to have to come to some new terms with what we ae turning our own part of the world into!

Regardfully,

BobB
