Independents close to overall average. Gallup poll More strict- 43% Keep as they are- 43% Less strict- 11% 28% of Americans favor a handgun ban. The South and West are split from the North and East; much less support for change. Not promising for a start. General agreement that the 2nd Amendment would have to be repealed, which seems unlikely.
