The Irish Traditional Music Archive Advent calendar for 2016 features twenty-five women in Irish traditional music who were born, or were active, during the years 1912-1922 currently being commemorated as the Decade of Centenaries.
This is a great opportunity to pay tribute to some remarkable tradition bearers, and to hear some great performances stored in the archive.
There are brief biographies of the women and some great photographs.

There are some stunning items here, especially by some lesser known contributors, which illustrate quite neatly the sheer wealth of the Irish tradition.
