I'm about halfway through NIGHT DRIVE: Travels with My Brother by Garnet Rogers and find it a fascinating read. Clearly Garnet is one who writes down only the extremes, the best and the worst of times. Well, that's what we all tend to remember. But Garnet has a much richer well to dredge than most of us. The chapter that I could comment on from direct experience is titled "The Ten Pound Fiddle" (folk club in East Lansing, Michigan) and is generally positive, accurate, and very funny. However, I did not brew high test moonshine at Rivendell Co-op where the band stayed the night; we poured them lab absolute alcohol (near 200 proof) instead. We did in truth serve them "placenta helper" for dinner, in response to their dismissive comments about vegetarian food. But you should buy and read the book and draw your own conclusions.
