Instead of the summer copy of "English Dance & Song", EFDSS members received this note through the post today:-

English Dance and Song
With regret, we have made the decision not to publish a June edition of EDS. We look forward to returning in the autumn, and are making plans to publish extended editions of EDS in both September and December.
This expanded edition of Board Matters serves as an update on our ongoing activities in these exceptional times.

EDS has never been and never should be a magazine that merely reflects the current scene. Of course there are no events to mention at present but there is plenty of scope for articles, information, memories of the many aspects of traditions in both dance and song that could easily have filled a summer issue or even statements of what the society has been up to in its various activities in recent years.
Many members will consider that the main reason for their membership is found in EDS.
As for an "expanded" Board Matters, it is four A4 pages which has been quite common in the past to be included with the issue, so not much of an expansion.

Those pages do contain the sad news that Shirley Collins will be retiring as President after 12 years. Understandable when she is in her 80s but still sad to lose this iconic figure in this role. All her life Shirley has been a strong advocate of traditional song and deserves our hearty thanks for all ways they she has performed and supported the singing of these songs.
