I was made aware of the life of a travelling musician when I went to see Martin and Dave Swarbrick at a small folk club near Tweed, Ontario. The door was about $3.00 and there were about a hundred people there. At intermission I asked Martin how the club could afford to pay them. He said that they usually asked for more, but they were in the area and it sounded like an enjoyable gig. I asked where in the area they had been playing and he said they'd played a show in London the night before. I said, "That's not in the area! London's 4 hours away." He said, "They're both in Southern Ontario."
