Ha-ha Keb, I always thought that was traditionally the joke against altos - of which I have been one< and of course, I would defend our position by saying that we get some of the best harmonies - and even some of the best lines as in Handel's Messiah!
However....if you are singing in a musical theatre production, you may well find yourself surrounded by other people singing other parts - soprano to the right, tenor to the left, bass behind you and still having to hold your own part....! That's when it gets really interesting, and challenging!
