I remember the day that Franklin Roosevelt died. At lunchtime at school Principal Yoder came in, announced the president's death and asked everyone to stand for a moment of silence. It was a tremendously moving moment for me. In my lifetime, Roosevelt had been our only president and I wasn't at all sure if anyone knew what to do.
