We are trying to find the lyrics to a song that we think we learned from merrick garret’s daughter. We stayed with him in the early 1980’s when we were touring through the Toronto area playing at some gigs he arranged for us.  . verse : Goodnight baby don’t you cry you’ll be sleeping in the moonlight by and by.

Chorus :
you’re my puppy in a basket,
you’re my kitty in a can,
you’re my rolly-polly gumdrop,
you’re a little grain of sand.
With a squiggle and a wiggle and a worn out shoe.
Your mommas gonna love you and kiss you too. 

There are a few verses to it and We can only remember two. Wondering if you know the song or know merricks daughter or whoever might have sung it. The occasion is that my son had a new baby and we thought we would get a tape together of all the kids songs we use to sing to him when he was little. He has been singing a few of them to the baby already and asked for more. Thanks a lot
