Very similar jokes appear as "Maine two-liners" on the comedy album "Bert and I" (from the 1970s?), and I always think of "You cahn't get theah from heah" as a Maine joke. Robertson Davies tells it as an Irish joke in one of his speeches. Something like, "Sure, if I was goin' ta Ballyragget, it isn't here I'd be startin' from at all!" I've also heard "I may be a fool, but I'm not lost" as the punchline of a Mexican joke about tourists. "Pendejo pendejo, pero no perdido!"
