The famous version (to me anyway) was issued by Johnny Standley (note the D in the surname) in 1952 on Capitol records. His version was called "It's In The Book" and was issued originally on a 78rpm record with Part 1 on side 1 and Part 2 on side 2. It was a comedy routine with Standley as a preacher, discussing Little Bo Peep - very funny (but you probably have to hear the record - it's the 'way he tells it'). When the 'sermon' was over, he asks the congregation to join in the 'hymn' (flip the record over to hear it).
