Thread Name: Tom Paxton Concert Review
Subject: Lyr Add: I Call It Murder (Tom Paxton)
Since Rog has mentioned this song, I think I'd better post the lyrics to it. Tom has become much less topical into the 21st century... This is about his latest "serious" topical song. A good song - a little bit Ochsesque. Sometimes I think I hear Phil's voice in it.

I CALL IT "MURDER"
(Tom Paxton)

Planes come in and land at night in Delaware.
Cameras are forbidden to take pictures there.
Coffins draped in flags come down the ramps at last.
Faithful unto death, their future is their past.

Some might call it "folly", some might cry "Crusade!"
Some might call it "justified" and some a "proud parade".
Some might call it "self-defence", some might take that further,
But today, sad to say, I call it "murder".
Today, sad to say, I call it "murder".

Sunni murders Shia, it goes on and on.
Shia tortures Sunni, death in Babylon.
Each of them kills soldiers with a roadside bomb.
Kills without a second thought, without a qualm.

Some might call it "folly", some might cry "Crusade!"
Some might call it "justified" and some a "proud parade".
Some might call it "self-defence", some might take that further,
But today, sad to say, I call it "murder".
Today, sad to say, I call it "murder".

Now the President says we must stay the course.
Force against us will be met by greater force.
Never short of victory will killing cease.
Never mind the sorrows of the friends of peace.

Some might call it "folly", some might cry "Crusade!"
Some might call it "justified" and some a "proud parade".
Some might call it "self-defence", some might take that further,
But today, sad to say, I call it "murder".
Today, sad to say, I call it "murder".
Today, sad to say, I call it "murder".
