Vic Smith, I like the look of your list. I know some of the names but not all, e.g. I know of Ali Farka Touré, the Jobarteh surname since my discovery of Dawda Jobarteh, and Salif Keita.

I have a three CD set called Africa - Never Stand Still . I bought it some decades ago and used to play it over and over again. It has been sitting idle for a while but you have inspired me to brush off the dust and play it again.
