Thread Name: Old tune book from Swinton, Lancashire
Subject: Old tune book from Swinton, Lancashire
I found this years ago and got quite excited. Then forgot all about it until a strange quirk of synaptic wanderings brought it back to mind this evening!
'Owd Billy Tilt' (Old William Tyldsley) used to play fiddle at the 'Dinnerings' in the White Lion at Swinton, Home of the folk club that I helped to run for many years before emigrating to Yorkshire :-)
John Adams of the University of Salford had a lot to do with the Village Music Project and, a long time back, he kindly pointed me in the right direction to find it. Subsequently I found out that Tony Weatherall of The Boat Band also had a part to play and when Tony, Greg and Kate came to Swinton they very kindly played us some Billy Tilt tunes :-)
Anyhow - Without further ado, here is the link I first followed
I brought it up due to my connections with Swinton but there are loads of other interesting pieces in the Village Music Project and I am sure you are all capable of finding them yourselves :-)
