Yes - I really liked the King's Head too - but you know, a well run club will survive and prosper whatever it faces - after 40 something years, it's still one of the best run and most genuine folk clubs in England - long live the newest re-generation.......Dr Who?

As Alex Atterson once said " Just keep walking round the Market Square and you'll find them eventually" Good luck in the new venue guys as allways with the club it's the people not the venue.

Good luck with the new venue. I only went to the King's head once when I was on a local study course but the room and the atmosphere were teriffic. Hope it works just as well at the Priory Centre.

My understanding is that the pub's been closed down by the local authority because people were dealing in drugs on the premises.

Don't know what's happened to the pub, but it's a shame as the club was there a long time ago (I remember it in the 1970's) though of course it's moved to many other places in btween.

The Priory Centre is where they hold the folk festival. There's a big hall which could be useful if they ever want to put on a big concert instead on the usual club night. It's better than the football club where they were before the last move to the Kings Head.

Not much more detail on the web site - home page is out of date but Headlines has the change details and a map.

Not another pub being turned into flats, is it?
