'Poorly publicised'
Maybe, but there was a half-page spread on the programme in the Independent on Sunday TV section.

Well, I woke up in time and thought, all things considered (mainly that it probably wasn't made for the likes of us) that it was very good. Certainly made me take Lakeman a bit more seriously, and the comments from various TV pundits that there is no reason folk music shouldn't break through into the mainstream were heartening. As were the adverts for Karina Polwarts and Neil MacColl/Kathryn Williams CDs - somebody was on the ball.

I'm going to email and ask for repeats in an evening time slot though - from this one, the series deserves it, though I notice they couldn't even be bothered to trail forward to the rest of them, or even Kate Rusby's next Sunday morning.

What did the rest of you think? Did anybody notice it was on? Very poorly publicised.

There are some nice little cameo videos on that Myspace - they don't all show in the thumbnails on the main page but if you click any of them you get the whole list including one on songwriting which includes Mike Waterson, and one on Kate Rusby's guitar maker. All looks very promising - must go to bed now or I won't wake up in time for the first one!

There's now a MySpace page for the series here but it's still only listing the original four. According to news on the fROOTS board they've added a repeat of the Kathryn Tickell documentary onto the end of the series on 4th May.

Looking forward to the Eliza one myself

'The musical influences of 4 contemporary English Folk artists. Ep 1 '

Might be of interest.
