Subject: RE: BS: Dream Folk Group From: Clinton Hammond2 Date: 16 Feb 00 - 03:04 PM D'OH! Yaaa! Dick Gaughan... ya... I can't believe I forgot him... definatly on vocals... but I'm keeping the guitar in Don's big ole hands... ;-) But Ian Anderson is good for more than just leaping and cavorting... he's one of the worlds best flute players (floutist? sp?) and has won more flute awards than he can count... Oh ya.. I wanna add my good friend Len Wallace 'cause he's the only guy who can play accordion in such a way that I don't hate it... If ya ever get a chance to see him, ask him to play "Taking Care Of Business"!! And let him know that I put ya up to it!! He'll play it and hate ya forever!! LOL!!! Seriously, Len is wonderful on so many levels... And he's not even paying me to say this stuff!! LOL!!

Subject: RE: BS: Dream Folk Group From: Steve Latimer Date: 16 Feb 00 - 02:51 PM I'm surprised that Woody Guthrie hasn't been mentioned here. I'd have to include the Ralph Stanley in any group that requires harmony. How about Levon Helm and the late Rick Danko? |

Subject: RE: BS: Dream Folk Group From: Steve Latimer Date: 16 Feb 00 - 02:34 PM Peg, Great call on Ian Anderson, finest leaper and cavorter I've ever seen. Also the most spellbinding performer.

Subject: RE: BS: Dream Folk Group From: Bill D Date: 16 Feb 00 - 02:21 PM gol-leee!!!..I now see WHY "de gustibus" is "non-disputandum"!!....guess I'm too old, but the only one of those groups I even consider walking across the street for is kendall's!...(If Loreena McKinnit is singing, I'll walk around the block to avoid it..*grin*)....but, it takes all kinds, I guess. And there so MANY kinds of groups..Celtic, Old-Timey, Bluegrass...let me think..It would be interesting to take Aly Bain, Alistair Anderson and Martin Carthy, and see what developed....then Norman Blake, Vassar Clements, Joe Maphis and Tut Taylor...awww..this is too HARD!

Subject: RE: BS: Dream Folk Group From: Magpie Date: 16 Feb 00 - 02:08 PM Oh Jaysus, there are so many to choose from, I don't even know where to start! Oh yes, I do! I'd start Mick McGoldrick on flute, whistles and uilleann pipes, then I'd have to get Niamh Parsons and Sean Keane to do the vocals, Alasdair Frazer on fiddle, Gino Lupari - bodhràn -what else?, Jim Rainey would do the guitar and bouzouki stuff, and finally Mairtin O'Connor on the squeeze-box. Dinkey, huh? I can't wait for the first CD. Magpie |

Subject: RE: BS: Dream Folk Group From: Clinton Hammond2 Date: 16 Feb 00 - 01:00 PM Ummmm... Neat question... On Fiddle Oliver Schroer 'cause he's the best, he's not hampered by being strictly traditional, and he's not a pedophile On Accoustic Guitar Don Ross 'cause he's also the best! Flute, Volcals and Songwriting... Ummm... Ian Anderson knowing full well that 1)He'd never do it and 2)he really should be included if something like this happened... Vocals and Harp The Lady Herself Ohhhh Loreena... Mmmmmm... HuH!?! What ?!?! Sorry... But I think her and Ian should have worked together a long time ago.. they could mix thier eastern influenced stuff...
I'll likley add to this list as the coffee sinks in, but that's where I'm gonna start... |
