Subject: RE: Llanfair on local radio From: catspaw49 Date: 18 Jun 01 - 11:45 AM WEll Bron, even if I lived a thousand miles closer, I'd still be several thousand miles away, not to mention drowning in the Atlantic. Congrats to you and I hope you were able to get some of it on tape to pass on to us!!! More Cheers back atcha'(:<)) Spaw |

Subject: RE: Llanfair on local radio From: John J Date: 18 Jun 01 - 11:28 AM It rather depends on many variables just coming right....you can't hear it in the winter at night (too much foreign interference) but it's acceptable during the day. It's inaudible during a lot of the day in the summer, but ok in the morning and evening. Unfortunately medium wave does suffer from static (lightning discharge) problems in the summer. I look forward to hearing you through the crackles! John |
Subject: RE: Llanfair on local radio From: Llanfair Date: 18 Jun 01 - 11:14 AM John, you are right, it is 756, and I'm amazed that it can be heard in Manchester!! I'll get Jim to record it for posterity, if he can, but, if not, I'll tell you about the interview later. Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Llanfair on local radio From: KingBrilliant Date: 18 Jun 01 - 05:24 AM Well done Llanfair - sounds like things are going well then. Can't get the radio station - but it'd be great if you could archive it as Skipjack suggests. Would love to hear it. Kris |
Subject: RE: Llanfair on local radio From: Skipjack K8 Date: 18 Jun 01 - 04:23 AM Good woman, yourself. Hope it goes well, missus. Unfortunately, the flood plain of the Humber is too far distant. Archive it for Mudradio. Skipjack |
Subject: RE: Llanfair on local radio From: John J Date: 18 Jun 01 - 03:33 AM Radio Maldwyn is audible (just!) in Manchester. If you have a decent portable radio (which will have a ferrite rod internal aerial...highly directional) you can null out the interfering adjacent staions by rotating the radio. Alternatively a good selective radio with a decent aerial. Bron, can you confirm the frequency please (I think it's 756khz, but I'm at work away from me wireless). I'll try and have a listen! John |
Subject: RE: Llanfair on local radio From: MudGuard Date: 18 Jun 01 - 02:45 AM Now that you become a radio star, how long will it be till we can see you on MTV? Good luck for your interview and your gig - a pity Munich is just outside the 30-mile-range... Greetings to Jim, MudGuard |
Subject: RE: Llanfair on local radio From: Noreen Date: 17 Jun 01 - 07:23 PM Break a leg, Bron... or whatever. Good for you! Noreen |
Subject: RE: Llanfair on local radio From: Llanfair Date: 17 Jun 01 - 06:59 PM No, Llanfair PG is in Anglesey, I'm in Mid-Wales, Llanfair Caereinion. Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Llanfair on local radio From: GUEST,Philippa Date: 17 Jun 01 - 05:46 PM I don't live near enough to hear the programme. I've been wanting to ask for some time, is your name short for "Llanfairpwllgwysiliogogogoch"? I never remeber the spelling, but perhaps it's easy enough for Welsh speakers to remember, a composite word. |
Subject: Llanfair on local radio From: Llanfair Date: 17 Jun 01 - 05:31 PM BBC radio Maldwyn is doing a piece about "Songs from Ashdale" on Monday, 18th June. They are interviewing me over the 'phone sometime tomorrow, and playing some of the tracks. The folk programme goes out from 8pm till 10 every Monday, and can be picked up on Medium wave within a 30 mile radius of Montgomeryshire, the part of Powys, Wales, where I live. I'll mention the Mudcats if I can. I'll also be mentioning the gig we're doing next Saturday with my son's band "Tenth Planet" in Llanfyllin, which is 15 miles from here. If anyone would like to come, we could provide floor space for overnight stays. Cheers, Bron. |
