The perpetual candidate of the Monster Raving Looney party died just recently. He was a lord who had changed his name, but I don't remember to what. The obit didn't mention the incredibly long one.

I think the Monster Raving Looney party pointed out that more of their policies had been adopted eventually than any other party. Must be something to do with Europe and the EC. On the original subject, unlike many of the others proposed, this one was in print over 100 years ago, and therefore unlikely to have been made up specifically as a record attempt! Rave on!

Wonderful! We had a similar party in Canada...the Rhinoceros Party. One of their proposals was to end unemployment by abolishing Statistics Canada. Another was to move the Rocky Mountains east to the Maritimes, so that BC wouldn't feel isolated anymore, and the Maritimers wouldn't feel left out when it came to towering mountain vistas.

Haven't seen the Rhinos just lately...too bad.

There was some guy in England who ran for the Monster Raving Loony Party, I think it was, and he had his name legally changed to something that went on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on...line after line...I heard it on the radio.

It really caused problems for newspeople and I believe they had a lot of trouble entering it on the ballot, because there wasn't enough space for it.

I'm sorry I wasn't a citizen of the UK at the time. I would have voted for him!

Does anyone in the UK recall this man, and what his name was?

Won't be the longest word in the dictionary, anyway. There's chemical names in the dictionary which require half a page just for the word...

-icanbandan- = several morphemes, have at it
