Your digital recorder will connect with your computer's sound card if it can connect at all.

The type of connection depends on the sound card and the recorder.

If, for example, the recorder has a "line out" (which will be analog output, not digital), you need a cable with the appropriate connectors at each end (probably stereo miniplug) to connect it to the sound card's "line in".

If the recorder has a "digital out" and the sound card has a "digital in" you'll need a different sort of cable. Probably available at Radio Shack. There's no guarantee that our sound card has a "digital in". The are not standard equipment yet for sound cards.

In addition to the proper cable physically connecting the two devices you'll need appropriate software on the computer, e.g. Sound Forge, GoldWave, etc.

I can't necessarily help, but it is important that you tell what kind of a computer you have and also what you want to do after you connect the two devices--for instance, do you want to edit what you have recorded on the computer? Do you want to burn it on to a CD?

As a general rule, devices comes with a software CD which features the software you need to connect, as well as programs that you might be inclined to run, and, now days at least, PDF instruction manuals that tell you how to do everything--if you're lucky, there will be a hard copy instruction manual for the recorder and a booklet on using it with your computer with a pamphlet or card that tells you what to do to start the whole thing up--

Just got a new computer which can handle our digital recorder, does anyone know how to link up the two. Can't sort out the connections and have looked tho the books to no avail. Very grateful for advice, but I'm not all that technical, so advice for dummies would be good!!!!

Thanks, Deni
