Subject: Zulu words

FYI

"Kunyi ikhozi ingenya amafu bengata nele njalo ingoyami ngi mbule"

is a motley assortment of Zulu words which does not make any sense.

Someone was having you on.

From the land of the Zulu ...
Mzansi Afrika (South Africa)

That is fantastic news beachcomber!

I'm afraid I was only born in 1960 so that famous cup run was before my time. My earliest memories of watching the Canaries at Carrow road come from late 60s/ early 70s when we went over on holidays to visit my grandfather in Norwich.

Jon,
What can I say. That "Travel Agency Sports Club Site" WAS the very ground that I used to play on. My old club are no longer using it BUT, they were able to put me IN TOUCH with two team-mates from whom I have not heard for some 40years !!!!!!!

Again, many , many, many thanks for your trouble.
PS My earliest memory of Norwich (The Canaries?) was 1958 when they defeated mighty 'Spurs in a replay at Carrow Road. Do you remember that !!!!!! Rem Terry Bly and (?) Brennanet al?
I also got to know a Norwich player (a reserve goalkeeper) who later worked as a TV director for BBC productions ? Keep the faith old chap !

I can't explain that Beechcoomber. If I click on the search link I gave in my first post, that site is currently shown as the second on the results that come up.

The search itself was a simple one - I just searched for "football forums". The only other thing I did was decide to search for UK sites as I suspected (perhaps wrongly) that a global search would turn up a lot of hits for the US and another version of football. To do this I used google.co.uk (not google.com) and opted for "show pages from uk only". I hope the site turns out OK for you.

Good luck with your other research.

Jon

PS I'm not much into football at the moment. We (Norwich) can't win a game and I think we are going straight back down.

Guest Jon,

I don't know why the site you "found" didn't come up for me , or, presumably , for Guest Ceejay. However I certainly am grateful to you for the amount of info you have given me. I am following up that ravel Agents Sports Club at Ealing which is the very ground that I was attempting to contact. Many , many thanks.
Yes Ceejay, that site "linked" by Jon looks like an end to "our quest", certainly hope so.
let us know how you get on,.

Hmm. The I clicked on here, 2nd in the search list, I don't see any popups - just one small link to a google ad. I notice in their rules things like:

"Members may not use TFF to abuse any other member of the forum. If a member does abuse another member then they will be issued a warning, along with details of why they have been warned. If a member repeats the offence, this will result in a permanent ban."

"Discrimination is not tolerated on this forum. Discrimination can take the form of the use of specific words or phrases or can be in the form of a general attitude towards an individual or group of people. For example, making a statement that all black people are criminals is discrimination on the basis of race, is illegal and is unacceptable. Discrimination can be on the basis of race, sex, disability, religion, sexual orientation or political persuation."

"TFF is open to all ages, therefore posts need to be respectful. No images or URL of a pornographic nature are welcome and will be removed. Bad Language needs to be kept to a minium. If a post is found to contain this, then moderators have the ability to edit/delete the post."

The layout is clear and easy to use.

If I can find that on my first search, me thinks you have not really been looking.

Hi Beachcomber, I know what you mean by 'a forum similar to mudcat' for football followers. I too would like to be able to discuss football on a forum where participants are genuinely interested in all aspects of the world game and look for intelligent discussion of the issues.

I'd love a football forum which is independently run, free of commercial hype, lurid ads, pop-ups, etc, and one where the posts are vigorous without going off into puerile 'slagging off' at particular clubs and/or their fan bases, or airing of prejudices against particular players. Unfortunately I suspect that any such forum would very soon be hijacked by the usual 'flamers', 'trollers' and general 'numb-brains'in any case. These people tend to swamp the many 'football websites' I've been able to find through a google search.

Its at times like this when we who have an equal passion for other topics as well as for accoustic and folkmusic realise the beauty, nay the brilliance of the Mudcat Cafe as a concept and its relative simplicity of access and operation.

Keep up the search.

CeeJay

I've not a clue what you mean by "similar to Mudcat" but as often is the case, Google is your best friend...

Try this for a search for football forums.

A little more searching led me to this which might help you.

Many thanks Mr McGrath, I take it you have no other details of who owns that ground nowadays? What organisation, Corporation or Social Club?
Sorry for having to refresh but I have just returned from hospital
(The old "water works y'know")
Thanks again,

beachcomber
PS Anyone know of similiar Forums to this, but for Football matters ??

Castlebar Park has lots of football played there - including Australian Rules and Gaelic, as well as Rugby and Soccer.

Does any "Mudcatter" in UK know of any Forum, on the same lines as the Mudcat Cafe existing ??
I am hoping to get some information on a Football Club that played at "home" in Castlebar Park, near Greenford, Middlesex.
I would be grateful for any assistance.
