Have you ever been in a situation where you couldn't get a word in edgewise? Well, you had on a cloak of invisibility on then, but you were the only person who couldn't tell.

I can think of a lot of uses beyond the ones already mentioned.

How about using one to exit a boring gathering of business associates or family members?

My brother-in-law would love such a suit for deer hunting.

Bank robbers would have a ball with them.

Fine art thieves would be delighted.

So would the CIA and the FBI.

But I do wonder as does Peace above, what happens when everyone's invisible?

Were we ever really here at all?

The thing's a total waste! There's only one reason guys would want to use it, and that's to see naked women. But the thing only works for light of a single wavelength, not for white light (which is a mix of all colors in the visible spectrum). That means you'd need to find someplace where all the lighting is of a single non-white color, like red. And the only places I know of where all the lights are red are strip clubs. You don't need an invisibility cloak to see naked women in a strip club! All you need is a handful of $1.00 bills.

You would want to be sure to remember just where you hung up that invisibility cloak ... And it would not be recommended to just hand it the hostess to throw on the bed with the other cloaks.

I'm not going to get one until they put out an invisibility hat to wear with it, and an invisibility walking stick. I wouldn't look my best, I'd feel undressed with just the cloak.

An unfortunate feature of the cloaking device reported in the article was fully documented in the research "bulletin" about a year ago, and has been true of all such devices reported (for different frequencies) over the past 20 years or so:

While you are invisible inside your cloak you cannot see anything outside of your cloak.

A coat of black paint does the same thing, for most of the "practical applications" mentioned above, doesn't it?

Maybe we should try out the "invisibility cloak" at Getaway. It's my understanding that it only works if the person to be so attired undresses first. Then we quickly hand them the cloak.

I expect there will be quite a line-up to experience this cloak.

I once saw a television scene where they had a chessboard in the bottom of a fishtank, and introduced a flounder/plaice/some kind if flatfish. S/he settled down and changed colour to blackish spots on a whitish background, spaced about right, too. Pretty impressive for someone who couldn't see the bottom without doing a somersault.

but not only does it change colors - it also changes shape by extruding bumps etc..
