Subject: RE: Bob Nelson Interview From: Jon Bartlett Date: 19 Aug 09 - 07:57 PM A delightful profile of Bob, though I can't say I was impressed by the interviewers and their daft questions. Had I been the interviewer, I'd have stayed with the FBI interview of Bob at age 16, where he was asked to become an informer: that would have been great radio and a fine piece for an archive, too. I wonder in passing if anyone took up the FBI offer and then fed them lots of bullshit? Jon Bartlett |

Subject: RE: Bob Nelson Interview From: Rapparee Date: 19 Aug 09 - 09:12 PM The focus of the interview wasn't on the FBI or the Red Hunt, it was on Bob. |
Subject: RE: Bob Nelson Interview From: Deckman Date: 19 Aug 09 - 09:14 PM By the way Jon ... and you know just how much I respect and honor you ... I would NOT declare the "interviewers" questions as "daft." These two ladies who dragged me to the microphone, kicking and screaming all the way, are career librarians ... tops in their fields. This new idea of doing "live radio interviews" was thrust upon them. Both Judy and I, and many others, thought they did a damned fine job. 'Twas not an easy task. I mean ... LOOK ... would you like the assignment of interviewing ME ... a well known reprobate ... with an FBI file ... who can cuss in three languages ... and has been known to do terrible things to decent people? I think not! bob nelson, still in Everett, where the hummingbirds are still smaller than the robins! |
Subject: RE: Bob Nelson Interview From: Peace Date: 19 Aug 09 - 10:14 PM Dang. I posted and it's gone. I agree with Bob regarding the gals at the library, no offense, Jon. The interview was wonderful. It's esay to 'see' how much you love and respect the music you sing, Bob. I really enjoyed listening to you talk about the past and the connection it all has with today. I hope you have got it downloaded to a CD or two. It's something you'll want to hang onto. |
Subject: RE: Bob Nelson Interview From: Deckman Date: 19 Aug 09 - 11:01 PM Thanks "Peace." By the way, I'm somewhat embarrassed to remember that I never got back to you to tell you just how much I enjoyed your CD. It's very good, tunefull, listenable, moving. Ever thought about doing that for a living? (BG). |
Subject: RE: Bob Nelson Interview From: Peace Date: 19 Aug 09 - 11:09 PM I have always admired people who alone with a guitar, voice and some songs can make people 'feel'. You do that with your music. I guess most of us at this age have not really got the voices we once had, but you more than make up for that with a plain honesty and openness and great phrasing skills. I hope the day comes we can do a duet--acoustic, lol. Man, I am gonna re-listen to you tomorrow when I get back to the library. There is definitely 'something' in there I'm going to learn from you. Once I know what it is I'll let YOU know what it is. Probably should be patented, but I don't think ya can do that. Thanks for that, Bob. It's much the way I feel about the songs you sent me. |
Subject: RE: Bob Nelson Interview From: Jon Bartlett Date: 19 Aug 09 - 11:18 PM Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Sorry to offend folks! Jon Bartlett |
Subject: RE: Bob Nelson Interview From: Deckman Date: 19 Aug 09 - 11:36 PM Not a problem Jon ... I'll keep the cider fresh for you! CHEERS, Bob |
