Subject: Times Past A Collection of Folk Songs
From: GUEST,Tina Warburton aka BIRD544616@AOL.COM

I have a copy of a copy of a cassette called Times Past, A collection of Folk songs by someone called D. Greenway. A friend made me this copy and it is just lovely with songs like the Water is Wide, Shenandoah and Danny Boy. I cannot find the artist or album anywhere, so it must be pretty old.

If you can help me locate this music or artist I would appreciate it, or if you can at least point me in the right direction. I am in the process of making a CD out of this cassette, but that is presenting new problems.

Thanks,

Tina

Hi, Tina - my usual place to check for old folk recordings is Folk Music: An Index to Recorded Resources, at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. The index lists a performer named John Greenway, but no D. Greenway. The songs you list are all very common, so the album could have been done by anybody who wanted to try recording a little folk music. If it's lovely music, who can argue with it? Wish I could help more.
