I am thinking of cashing up and buying a new 6 string guitar. My Maton overlander is very dated in the pickup area. I fingerpick without a thumb pick when playing alone and play rhythm in my bushband. The overlander was the best I could afford at the time. What is available in AUSSIE that would suit bare fingerpicking,I am in S.E.Queensland S/H is ok ,Jup.

I have no idea myself, but I'll top this up and see if anybody picks it up.

Difficult to know what relative prices are like unless one is in Oz. Memory says that there are better deals to be had on good Japanese guitars than on American guitars, and that you are more likely to find one in Melbourne or Sidney. A top of the line Yamaha or a Yairi might be something to look for. You could always try a new Maton - they may not have the appeal of a Martin, but they usually play well, sound good, and stand up to a few knocks!

Check out my web friend pejomo (Pete Moles) at Molenator Guitars. His e-mail is on his site. He makes resonator guitars and is a helpful guy with many contacts in the Australian luthier community. Sometimes his site is cranky because his Tasmanian IP limits storage and usage.
