Is that this song In That Great Gettin' Up Morning which has those words at the end, or is it a different song?

Not that song...the name of the song is :Poor Sinners Fare THee Well..
In the chorus it goes something like...these golden slipper I'm Gonna wear, golden slippers I gonna wear, golden slipper I gonna wear oh sinners fare thee well.
It is not "Old these golden slippers,...I know that song...thanks Marg

Here is the transcription from book accompanying the Bear Family box set. I don't think what is in the square brackets is accurate, but I don't know what it should be either.

Is anyone out there familiar with this song?   It is not "Old the Golden slippers song..
It has a line in about "gone down to river and lay my burdens down...and the chorus is : Golden slipper I gonna wear, golden slipper I'm gonna wear, golden slippers I gone ware..oh sinners fare thee well....
Song title maybe Poor Sinner (or Sinners) fare thee well..

This looks like one of those songs that is based partly on floating verses. Macon (and others) often vary the song each time they sing it.
The words in the Macon thread linked by Mick Pearce may be as good as you will find.

I'm listening to this song right now, and the tune sounds familiar but I'm not sure where I've heard it before.
Does anyone know of other songs using this tune or a similar one?

Early Upchurch and the Friendly Quartet sing a version of this (or something very like it) on his Hymns of the Hills record under the title “Golden Slippers”
