Subject: Pride of Petrivar placenames? From: ddw in Windsor Date: 17 Mar 99 - 08:15 PM Can anybody tell me the placenames mentioned in Ian and Sylvia's Pride of Petrivar? I love the tune, but I'm reluctant to perform it because I can't make them out and just sure as shootin' if I tried to fake it somebody would call me on it.... I haven't even been able to find what country it's set in, but I think either Scotland or Ireland. Any help appreciated... ddw |

Subject: RE: Pride of Petrivar placenames? From: Charley Noble Date: 28 Nov 10 - 08:11 AM Here's a link to Percy's original version of his song as posted to the Oldpoetry website: Click here for original song! No doubt any version anyone has heard recorded has been somewhat folk-processed. My uncle recorded a version of it as well in the 1950's and it was certainly one of my favorite songs.
