Recollection was that I got the lyrics from a written lyric site, but I haven't found the source reference in my notes. (It's there somewhere, but I've just got too many notes?)

The link to You're the Reason ... in my post 3 years ago still works, but I think the ringtone to have it answer your phone may be new.

kids are ugly little darlins' - both kids and darlings refer to the kids, plural, both plural as posted if that was the case.

There were several performances, and pronunciations are sometimes a little "loose," especially with many C/W singers, so it's hard to dispute what you hear.

I don't think I'd spend actual money for a recording of this song, but I'm glad I have Spotify so I can listen to it at least once.
I think that Loretta is hanging her clothes outside on wires. And I think the movie star is Ruth Buzzi.

And on top of all that, I can't imagine Loretta Lynn without makeup or with curlers in her hair - or wearing a housecoat, for that matter. Until the day she died, she was a "looker."
