Subject: Folk Venues in Southeast England From: GUEST Date: 09 Mar 07 - 10:15 AM Hi; I will be travelling in Southeast England during the month of May, can anyone advise or suggest some folk venues in that area during may, pubs, concerts etc. Also, what about good folk venues in London. Would like to see the Watersons at the Albert Hall, ate tickets still available. What about other folk music in London, clubs and such. I would be very grateful for any info. Thanks so much. |
Subject: RE: Folk Venues in Southeast England From: Scrump Date: 09 Mar 07 - 10:23 AM That was a bit silly, eating your Watersons tickets :-) Where to start? I'm sure the owners of the various folk clubs won't miss this chance to plug their clubs. I believe the Watersons tickets are still available (not a sellout yet AFAIK) but advisable to check the box office website. |

Subject: RE: Folk Venues in Southeast England From: melodeonboy Date: 09 Mar 07 - 09:23 PM For general information, may I suggest getting hold of "Folk Orbit". This has listings for folk clubs all over England (and further afield now as well, I believe). There's also "around Kent Folk". You can also contact me directly if you want information on folk nights in Mid Kent. Don't forget the session that I am hosting with Growler at the Tudely Oak (near Tunbridge Wells) on the afternoon of the 20th May. In early May (Bank Holiday weekend) there's the Rochester Sweeps' Festival. Apart from all the other wonderful events that are on, I advise you to come along to one of John Barden's excellent singarounds, which are held in the Good Intent. There's also a very good local zydeco band doing a couple of gigs during the Sweeps' Festival, but I shall be accused of shameless self-publicity if I give you the details! |
Subject: RE: Folk Venues in Southeast England From: Herga Kitty Date: 10 Mar 07 - 05:25 AM We have Jim Causley at Herga on Monday 14 May - lucky Herga! - and an open evening (all performers welcome) on 21 May. Herga meets every Monday except Bank Holidays - a bit tricky in May, when the first and last Mondays are both Bank Holidays...... Kitty |
