The words are, Verse 1 1st line "Well a miner's life is short and hard, ...." and the chorus is "So place yourself in the saviour's hands, ...." Adapted in 1958 by John Brunner for the first Aldermaston march as The H-Bomb's Thunder ~ "Don't you hear the H-bomb's thunder Echo like the crack of doom? ... ~ Men & women, stand together, Do not heed the men of war!" ~ and became the anthem of the CND. As I think I have related before, but wotthehell archie, I shared a Hampstead flat with John at the time, &, as he couldn't sing a note, he asked me to sing a verse & chorus to try how it sounded; so I can claim to have been the first-ever singer of that now-so-famous song! ~Michael~ |
