Yorkshire Gathering 2001 is on

Subject: Yorkshire Gathering 2001 is on
From: Mrs.Duck

We have set a date- 18th,19th and 20th May at the Jug in Chapel Haddlsey. Camping for tents and vans is available on site but let us know how many. There is also limited B&B available nearby and some local 'catters may have floor/couch space,
Nothing is fully set yet but we hope to have use of the local church hall for a ceilidh/concert on the Saturday with singarounds and music sessions in the pub all weekend.
Excellent food is available on site or if weather permits we could have use of Syd's barbeque.
Hope you can make it!

Where in Yorkshire is Chapel Haddsley? John

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2001 is on
From: bill\sables

John J, Chapel Haddsley is a crossroads between Selby and the M62 on the A19. It is very easy to get to as it is near the A1 and M62. So any U.S. or Oz catters just follow the M62 from Manchester airport, or those of you coming from Europe to Hull just follow the M62 the other way. Geordies and Scots come down the A1 to the M62 and turn left and Southerners come up the A1 or M1 as far as the M62 and turn right. You Can't Miss It.

It's about 4 miles south of Selby on the A19 to Doncaster. We will sort out directions, maps, etc. when we have time.

Thanks Bill, as one born in Lancashire perhaps I should have asked ' where's Yorkshire?!' A couple of other questions, if anyone can help: Is the beer decent (and NOT nitrokeg)? Is there anywhere to park my caravan? Can I come? John

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2001 is on
From: bill\sables

John, of course you can come, You can park your caravan in the Jug field, and the Jug has won awards from C.A.M.E.R.A. for the best real ale pub in the region. As far as being born in Lancashire goes you had better ask some of the Tykes about pasports etc. I am a Geordie so the Roses problems do not concern me.
Les, I think bus's do run from Selby but not Goole ( nobody comes from Goole except Sam Pirt) but you should be able to get a lift by car if you give us a ring at the Jug 01757 270307
Catrin, There will be plenty of floor space for you.

Well done Mrs Duck for the Jug's website. I notice that in the list of instruments welcomed there is no mention of any of the ones that I play. So somebody's done their homework - I've only been twice. Mind you, I see that there's no mention of banjos either, eh Geoff?

What I really wanted to say was that I've spoken to Maggie since I first posted and she's really looking forward to meeting up with everybody again.

I was a little worried that the venue would be too small but now you have come up with the cleaver ploy off allowing Banjo Players! That should make enough room to get to the bar!

Only Joking!

Please, please do not leave your Banjo on the back seat of your car! Someone did that last year at the Moor and Coast! And when they got back to their car someone had smashed the windscreen! Not only that there were Two more Banjo's on the front seats!

See you all before the Yorkshire Gathering in Whiby for the Moor and Coast!

There will certainly be a raffle Les. We are already looking at some ideas for prizes but bottles etc for minor prizes will all be gratefully accepted or anything musical especially if its a mudcatters latest CD (Bill?)or even just silly things as booby prizes!. We will also have to cover any expenses too Which hopefully won't be too heavy. I am looking into the idea of T=shirts as well but may ask folk if they are interested rather than order a batch and get caught out. Certainly any money collected over the weekend will go to Mudcat funds.

I could really do with starting to get numbers so can I repeat an earlier request that if you are definitely coming send me a personal message saying how many and whether you are tent, caravan or sweep up with the empties. This doesn't mean anyone can't turn up unannounced (please do) but if we are looking at large numbers we can plan accordingly and vice versa.
Thanks Jane

We're coming and I know the Magician bagged a space for his caravan when he was down last weekend. I should imaging we'll either need space for the tiny tent or cadge a bed in his van. Hope to get to the Jug tomorrow.

Jolly good. Could still do with a few from further afield too. Maybe some of the German mudcatters might like to get over for it and so far we have noone from North of the border. We're thinking of taking our awning so that there is somewhere to have a night cap or an outside session during the day if the weather is good. MInd you if you can still walk as far as our awning at the end of the day you aren't doing it right! But the offer is there

The awning is not at the end of the day. It's the beginning, isn't it?

I'm still looking for a lift for Maggie (see earlier in thread).

Cheers, Les

Could be Peter Noone. We'd better start practising "I'm into something good".

Have just explored Patrish's Link. At 10,000 scale can almost see bumps on Syd's field. Presumably PH is The Jug and not the acidity of the beer.

Looking forward to meeting the 40 visitors!! Cheers GB

Just returned from the Jug-a business meeting of course. We have discussed beer food and computers and Syd's reply to all were no problem!
Beer- we will almost certainly have a Mudcat special ale brewed by Brown Cow Brewery. This will be available at the pub and if you want to bring suitable carry out containers you can take some to the hall on Saturday night. There will not be a bar at the hall but you can take alcohol with you.
Food-the Jug is reknowned for its good food especially pies. If the weather is favourable we will have a barbeque on the Saturday evening before the ceilidh. Val will organise the food so no need to bring that.
Computer-Syd has agreed to our setting up a live paltalk Mudcast especially if we show him hiw his computer works! More about this later.
So you can see we didn't just go for the food and beer!!
