Gosh...famous in my own time. Thanks, Little John! I have the same radio habits as you...am equally unable to put up with commercial radio ads and DJ's. CBC has gone down some, because of the government cuts, but it's still the best thing out there.

All I can say is, bravo for socialism. Without it there would be no refuge in this country from the incessant commercial blather that pollutes the airwaves, except to turn the bloody thing off! (which is what I generally do)

Thanks for the link. Ah always enjoy your "dialect" immensely, and Ah would love tae master it mysel' if Ah thocht Ah had the ear for it, but Ah'm just a beginner Ah'm sad tae sae!

I find that grassroots community radio is far superior to the burueaucratically-layered CBC.

I love the CBC but I can't get it on the radio here where I live. Does anyone know if they have a site where people can listen its regular programming online?

ljc gets my vote to play the part of Robbie Coltrane in "The Making of Harry Potter", anyway

Wow, Carol! Three exclamation marks, one bolded(?)word and one italicized word! You must really love the CBC. Only too glad to help you connect.

A really good listen, which the CBC airs around this time of year, is "A Child's Christmas in Scarborough", by Howard Engel. A suburban Canadian version of the Dylan Thomas poem. I near pee myself every time I hear it. Couldn't find mention of it on the CBC site, though.

Cheers, eh?

It's true Bardford. I still miss Canada and when I listen to the CBC I can imagine I'm there.

Too bad I'm not in power up here, Carol! You'd have an instant Visa for permanent resident status.

Mind you, I wouldn't want that job. The American government would most definitely decide to have me eliminated with extreme prejudice after I blocked their ongoing takeover of our Canadian freshwater, resources, media, etc...probably through the old "economic squeeze" technique or possibly by means of a "scandal". No "Daisy-Cutters" are required to conquer the Great White North. :-)

I predict I would have a short, if dramatic, career in government, followed by an early and permanent retirement. :-) Jean Chretien (our esteemed PM) has endured, because he generally does exactly what they tell him to, while making some independent-sounding noises now and then, just for show. The last PM we had who really stood up for himself was Trudeau.

p.s. "PM", in this context means "Prime Minister".

I'll agree and also say, the last PM we had who really stood up for Canadians and the people of the world was Trudeau.

Well, LH, if I was a Canadian citizen I'd vote for you. But not if it meant your early demise.
