Lyr Req: Peggy's Cove

Hi Mudcatters

I remember a song from several years ago about Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia. I am afraid I'm can't produce any of the lyrics from it but I remember it was about whale-watching or similar.

Not much to go on I'm afraid, but I know how Mudcatter's love a challenge!

Well here's one I found...

WHALE TALK
MacArthur

Nova Scotia morning looking deep into the sea
in an early winter gale
waves were swelling high against a pale December sky
I saw a whale
Cold wind upon my face
watching seagulls float in space
clouds...rolling in
the whole wide world was new
a shaft of sunlight touched his blue
look....at him

floating in the ocean just fifty yards away
looking in to the shore
sending out a message with his thought waves touching me
He said "WHAT DO YOU KILL US FOR?"

Nova Scotia morning whale talk singing in the breeze
sunrise...Peggy's Cove
salt spray in the air a touch of wonder everywhere
talking to a whale

He said "help me, if you will, please ask your people not to kill
my friends and family
We have dreams of living long,
sing of our children in your song
Please speak for me WHALE TALK"

Singer-songwriter Vince Morash of Nova Scotia grew up there. Maybe he's wrote a lament about what Peggy's Cove has become.

Thanks Mousethief - I think this is the one. Do you have the tune as well please?

Charley, What do you mean when you say "what Peggy's Cove has become"? Are you referring to it being a tourist trap? To the famous air crash? I know little about the place except that it has a beautiful lighthouse, is a whale-watching area and that it is in Nova Scotia.

What HAS Peggy's Cove become ? In winter, when all the tourists have gone, it is still one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Look at the website I posted (click here) -- there's a midi or an mp3 or something you can get the tune from.

I have to agree with Geordie, above. It's truly a lovely spot in the winter but was wildly over-run with tourists and tourist accessories, including myself, when I last visited in August 3 years ago. What little open area exists was consumed by parking lots, crammed with buses with their engines running. Sorry if this sounds like a putdown.

Sadly,
Charley Noble
