07 Sep 02 - 06:07 AM (#778540) Subject: I'd like to say 'I'M Back' From: dusterjim I'd like to say that "I'm back" but I'm not, just visiting and browsing. For those who know me, I am cancer free after 2 years (I'm doing so well that I almost feel guilty)(my doctor still calls me a walking miracle). Though I have been doing a lot of independant work, I still play with The Bridgport Volunteers (check them out here (I'm the one with the suspenders): http://thebridgeportvolunteers.bizhosting.com/ Ive got six new pieces ready for copywrite, but I have to redo 3 of them because of changes (I really understand why it takes over a year sometimes for a musician to "record" an album). I first joined this site when it was with "onstage media" way back when, and I am so glad to see that it is still continuing (thanks to the faithfull for all of your hard work and dedication). This site has been such a blessing to over the years, I wish that I had more time to visit here (OK, I just wish that I had more time!!) Jim |

(also every fifth Monday, Tuesday etc.,) Many premises (pubs, clubs) have regular bookings for once or twice a month, which would normally be "First Tuesday of every month" or "First & Third Tuesday of every month". If the premises can get a complementary booking "Second and Fourth Tuesday of every month" then four or five times a year they get an unbooked Tuesday on the fifth Tuesday. Occasional bookings can fill these gaps, which are not evenly spaced throughout the year. CHEERS Nigel |

The same system applies, In my local church, we have Sung Eucharist on the first, third and fourth Sudays of each month. The Second Sunday is our 'Family' service, which includes the youth movements in our area. On those occasions when a fifth Sunday occurs we have 'Mattins' (Morning Prayer) which otherwise no longer gets a Sunday celebration locally. Nigel |

Any males over here wearing them would be thought to be cross-dressing ! We would decribe the articles which are holding your jeans up as "braces". |

Glad to know you are better :0). I used collect OT Gospel in my mountain days and still love to sing for my enjoyment many of the great Camp Revival Songs! A treasure to be cherished and unique to the USA. Yes suspenders, David, in the USA means what we Brits call Braces or my grandparents in Ireland called Galases. The Americans figure that since there are more of them saying Suspenders we the minority better change our ways. I think you get the point. There's also Elevator/Lift - this one makes me cringe since our word is smaller, yall/ye this again is silly why say youall when we mean ye...it's another thread. |

To the guest, I am glad to say that the discovery of my cancer was an accident. we were checking out something else and found it. Because surgery was the only to discover just how widespread it was, the initial prognoses was that I had 7 months to 5 years to live. And of course all you really hear is the "7 MONTHS" (changes your life). Had the surgery, turned out to be an early detection (short version). Did not need chemo. or radiation treatments (me, very happy). As a side note, I took some instruments to the hospital to get some practice in, and the nurses petitioned my doctor to put it on my chart to play music in the hallway every day (great bunch of people). Banjer, Hey, you're still around. No CD's at this point (plan to post some clips at some point (have some MP3's ready for that)). The web site is temporary as our former host site shut down and we are looking for a new host that meets our needs, but bizhosting has been great and the price is right. Kenny and Jody have some property in Florida somewhere (don't know where) and have some good friends that do auctions out of an old movie theater there. The fifth Sunday is a regular yearly schedule, and I can't tell you how many neat people we have met there ( I recomend giving it a try if only visiting for a while, but I wont get on a soap box here), but our schedule is not limited, we have turned down several requests (as we don't want to suffer burnout). Nigel, It really is more than church settings, and believe me, our church settings really are few (which I see as a sad report as that was our original focus). Our sole Gospel sets have limited some of our venues (due to policital correctness, and fear of offending, of which neither is out intent). However we are considering adding other than Gospel to our sets to those venues that are more concerned about such things (and hey, we have lots of other music other than Gospel that we enjoy also and would like to incorperate). Dave, My grandfather had two sets, one for work (in the woods) which he wore on the outside (which were the wide ones) and one set he wore for dress (which were always covered, the narrow ones).
