A translation of Antaine's verse goes something like this; I love Harte an' I think he's "BRILLO". Personally I think Frank Harte is THE best thing since fried bread. And I love fried bread for me breakfast. Be seein' ye all in Naynaa for d'weekend please God. And if you if you want a delicious treat that's even nicer than fried bread - we'll have Aileen O'Connor as a guest on Saturday night. (A most gorrrrrrgeous team mate of Martin's). Friday weel have Hairy Eggs 'n Bacon Barry Gleeson on along with Priscilla "Special K" Skrade. Sunday night will be John Lyons Tea Bags with Niamh of the Creamiest Porridge Parsons. Try John Moulden's Ulstersongs (see Links page). He may have them - or be able to get them for you.

Frank, by the way, is here this Friday and Saturday. For those who're interested, to the best of my knowledge, Frank's earliest recordings were made by Topic, viz. Dublin Street Songs, 12T172 (1967) and Through Dublin City, 12T218 (1973). Alf Edwards (there's a name from the past) accompanies him on some selections on the first lp. I bought these at that time and I doubt they're obtainable except through a specialist like Martin's suggestion, Ulstersongs. Frank's book, Songs of Dublin, Ossian OMB 74, has been reprinted and is distributed by Music Sales (same as Oak Publications). |
