BS: Seattle, January 19-24....

Is anything (besides ALA Midwinter at the Convention Center) going on in Seattle January 19 - 24? I'll be attending the Conference, mostly.

Alert the Quilt Shops. My wife will almost certainly be coming too.

Maybe it's time that YOU and I finally meet ... face to face. I'll PM you my private e-mail. Maybe "Bride Judy" and I can host you and yours for an evening of music. CHEERS, Bob

Here, too. Are you going to get a chance to see the new Seattle Public Library while you're here, or is that where the conference is taking place? Gotta get together!

I can tell you that Rap is a very nice fellow, as nice and funny in person as he is online. I met him when he came here to Portland some time ago.

Don and Bob and Rapaire, I've got a place in north Seattle, as you know, that would be fine for a 'hoot.' Also, there's our weekly Tuesday open mic at the Ravenna Third Place Books - see Victory Music. You can also check out their event calendar closer to when you come. And the Seattle Folklore Society has weekly concerts. Then there are many coffee houses and pubs in the area with live music. And NW Seaport usually has it's 3rd Sat concert at the Wood Boat Center on South Lake Union (close to downtown). So there's a lot going on. Hope to see you then.

Cheers, S. in Seattle

If you take the convention elevator to the basement level, you can step right out on the freeway. Hitchhiking is easy from there ... if you can get them the cars to slow down a little! Bob

8.57 miles, according to Mapblast or -quest or one of them Map things.

Neither my wife nor I will have a car. Kin we ride in yours? And maybe Den, too?

I kind of feel we have maybe backed Stew into a corner here. I'm not sure I will have much time to do anything outside my duties at the conference. It will be a whirlwind trip and then off to Vancouver Island to visit the in-laws. Maybe we can meet for a coffee or a beer Rapaire?

Or whatever, sure. But having done the "Notable Books" gig I understand your point about maybe not having time.

Then again, tell them it's field research for the JCD Award and charge ALA for it.

Ebbie, we have a cabinet full of wonderful liquors: Knob Creek bourbon, 16 year old Bushmill's Irish, Red Breast Irish, single malt scotch of several varieties, Black Bush, Tullamore Dew, and the list goes on and on.

And we rarely sip any of it, truth to tell.
